This is a belated post on our afternoon tea experience at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver Airport. After seeing the 50% off deal on those group buy website twice, I thought I’d purchase a coupon and try it out with Al. Normally I wouldn’t even think of going to the airport for afternoon tea. Just the parking along can pay for the meal. The coupon offered 50% off the afternoon tea for two and includes parking for 2 hours.

We were promptly seated once we arrived and it was apparent that almost every table there is using a coupon for the afternoon tea. Since it’s a set course menu, we picked our teas, Safari Masala Chai and the Berry Berry, and wait for the food to come. The teas were both very delicious, especially the Chai.

The 3-tier afternoon goodies arrived shortly after. The bottom tier were 4 different type of sandwiches. The curry egg sandwich was the best out of the three. I found the cucumber sandwich a bit too wet. Here’s a closer look at the sandwiches:

The second tier was scones with cream and jam. Nothing special, especially after I had those super yummy scones from the London Heritage Farm in Steveston.

The top tier were the sweets. It’s the most disappointing tier for me. I love desserts but these ones were just not up to par in my opinion. I tried them all and all of them lacked flavour. It’s sweet but that’s about it. Al didn’t even try any of the desserts.

I would probably not recommend anyone to  have afternoon tea at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver Airport. With so many places offering afternoon teas nowadays, why would anyone go out of their way to eat here? Al wasn’t impressed with the food either so the weekend after this, we went to Faubourg for afternoon tea.
